UPS announced that George Brooks has been appointed president for the Americas Region. Brooks takes over Romaine Seguin’s role, who has accepted a global assignment at UPS Corporate headquarters. George will be responsible for all UPS package and cargo operations in Canada and more than 50 countries and territories, as well as the UPS Supply Chain Solutions operations throughout Latin America, Miami and the Caribbean.

George began his UPS career as a part-time package handler in Carrollton, Georgia, in 1983. In 1984, he was promoted to package car driver and then held management assignments in all of UPS operations in Georgia, New Jersey, and New York. Most recently he was the President, U.S. Operations Engagement & Communications.

“I’m excited to be joining the talented and diverse team in Miami. I look forward to continuing to provide strong leadership, increase our client portfolio, advance our business, and be part of the numerous philanthropic projects that are empowering communities in South Florida and throughout the region”, said George Brooks, president of UPS Americas region.

Throughout his career, George has held various leadership roles. In 1999, he held the position of Central Florida District Manager and assumed the same responsibility in the Rocky Mountain District in 2001. In 2010, George was a leader in the transformation of UPS’s small-package operations, and then assumed the responsibility of President for the Central Region. George became President for the East Region in 2012, a role he held until his most recent assignment.

George has always been an active member of the community supporting numerous organizations including, Junior Achievement, Big Brothers/Big Sisters, United Way, NAACP, and the National Urban League.

George received his bachelor’s degree from the State University of West Georgia in 1984. He received his master’s degree in Business Administration with an emphasis in Global Management from the University of Phoenix. He is a graduate of Columbia Senior Executive Program at the Columbia University Graduate School of Business and the Chief Executive Leadership Institute at the Yale School of Management.
