Enjoying the stunning natural landscapes, incredible wildlife and vibrant cities of Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne in Australia will be easier this winter with enhanced services from American Airlines and Qantas.

Starting Dec. 5 through the end of Jan. 2026, American will launch three weekly flights connecting Los Angeles (LAX) with Brisbane, Australia (BNE). Additionally, Qantas will increase operations to daily services between Dallas Fort Worth (DFW) and Melbourne, Australia (MEL), starting Dec. 3 through the end of Jan. 2026. Qantas will also operate all of its services between Dallas Fort Worth (DFW) and Sydney, Australia (SYD) on its A380 aircraft from January.

Qantas Group CEO of International, Cam Wallace said: “The strength of our partnership with American Airlines continues to bring great benefit to our customers around the world. We know Australia remains very popular with U.S. travelers, and these changes will provide increased connectivity onto our vast domestic network to some of Australia’s most unique destinations.”

Whether traveling to the beaches of Whitsundays, snorkeling at the Great Barrier Reef, taking in the Aurora Australis from Tasmania’s Mount Wellington or unwinding at Rottnest Island amid quokkas, American and Qantas offer customers the opportunity to tailor their travels to best suit their needs with convenient flights, comprehensive networks and reciprocal status benefits.

Tickets for American’s new service between LAX and BNE will go on sale starting May 12.

Connecting countries, cultures and more

For the fourth consecutive year, the American and Qantas Joint Business partnership is expanding connectivity between the United States and Australia, New Zealand and the South Pacific. After launching service between DFW and MEL in 2022, daily service operated by Qantas in December and January between these two hubs will allow for seamless one-stop connections from across the U.S. to Melbourne.

The joint business partnership also continues to enhance connectivity from BNE. This winter, American and Qantas will offer up to seven weekly flights to LAX, providing convenient daily flights for customers connecting Queensland’s sensational coastlines, world-famous zoos and more with the City of Angels. All services on American and Qantas will be operated with Boeing 787-9 aircraft.

Following a successful season of operation on American’s first-ever flights to BNE from DFW, this popular flight will return for winter service starting Oct. 25. American also recently announced its newly designed Boeing 787-9 aircraft featuring 51 Flagship Suite® seats and 32 Premium Economy seats will be available on all flights between DFW and BNE. Customers can purchase a Flagship Suite® experience on this route now.

American and Qantas offer customers the most comprehensive networks connecting North America with Australia, New Zealand and the South Pacific. With service from key North American gateways DFW; LAX; New York (JFK); San Francisco (SFO); and Vancouver, Canada (YVR), customers can enjoy connections from more than 200 destinations across North America on American’s industry-leading network to joint business flights. Through four major gateways in Australia and New Zealand — Auckland (AKL), BNE, MEL and Sydney (SYD) — customers can explore more of the region with onward connections to nearly 70 destinations.
